PrimeTrace is an advanced gas detection system designed for pinpointing water leaks in all types of pipe materials — including metal, plastic, and composite. It uses hydrogen gas detection, one of the most sensitive and reliable methods available, capable of identifying even the smallest leaks that traditional acoustic methods may miss. The system operates with a safe 5% hydrogen and 95% nitrogen gas mixture, which is non-flammable, non-toxic, and environmentally safe. The tracer gas is injected into the water pipe through a hydrant or service connection, travels with the water flow, and escapes at the leak point. Because hydrogen is the lightest element, it rises through soil and flooring to the surface, where it can be easily detected by the PrimeTrace sensors.
