Hydrophone Sensors

High-sensitivity hydrophones are designed for leak detection in pressurised water mains using the acoustic correlation method. The sensors capture leak noise transmitted through the water column and deliver a precise signal to the correlator for analysis. Fully compatible with Ovarro correlators (Eureka2, Eureka3, Eureka5), hydrophones enable accurate leak position calculation based on advanced signal processing. Hydrophones are typically installed on hydrants or dedicated access points, ensuring direct acoustic contact with the water column inside the pipe. Using correlation technology, leak localisation can be achieved over long distances: Up to approximately 2 km in metallic pipelines Up to 600–800 metres in polyethylene (PE) pipelines (depending on pipe diameter, internal pressure, background noise levels and site conditions) This makes hydrophones particularly effective for large diameter transmission mains and long-distance correlation applications.
