SoundSens is a portable multi-sensor leak detection system designed for fast and accurate pinpointing of hidden leaks in water distribution networks. It uses multiple Bluetooth®-enabled acoustic sensors to capture synchronised recordings at different points on the pipe network and applies correlation analysis to identify the likely leak location. The sensors are configured, time-synchronised and deployed on accessible pipe assets, while setup and data retrieval are handled through the MicroStream App. This removes the need for a laptop or specialist on-site software and makes the system suitable for efficient field surveys in real-world network conditions. SoundSens is suitable for both continuous and diagnostic survey work across complex and interconnected pipe networks. Scheduled recordings can also be carried out during quieter periods, such as at night, helping improve the quality of leak noise detection. SoundSens helps reduce the time required to locate leaks, supports more targeted repair work and improves the efficiency of water network maintenance. Its multi-point correlation capability allows several sensors to be used together, helping operators identify hidden leaks more quickly and with greater confidence.
