Personal protection in potentially hazardous working environments
Esders Single Gas is a professional personal single-gas analyser designed and manufactured in Germany to provide continuous protection for workers exposed to potentially hazardous atmospheres.
The compact analyser is worn directly on the worker's clothing and continuously monitors the surrounding atmosphere. Depending on the selected version, it measures hydrogen sulphide (H₂S), carbon monoxide (CO) or oxygen (O₂).
When a predefined warning threshold is reached, the user is immediately alerted by audible, bright visual and vibration signals.
Designed for professional workplace safety
Hazardous atmospheres cannot always be identified by sight or smell. Toxic gas concentrations and oxygen levels can also change unexpectedly while work is being carried out.
Single Gas provides continuous personal atmosphere monitoring, helping workers identify dangerous conditions early and take appropriate action according to established workplace safety procedures.
Typical applications
Firefighters and rescue services – for operations following fires, technical rescue work, basements, technical rooms and other environments where elevated CO levels or unsafe oxygen conditions may occur.
Water and wastewater utilities – for personnel working around sewer systems, pumping stations, wastewater treatment facilities and other environments where H₂S or oxygen-related hazards may be present.
Gas and energy utilities – for personal protection during operation, inspection, maintenance and repair of technical infrastructure.
Industrial and manufacturing facilities – for employees working in areas where a specific gas hazard has been identified through workplace risk assessment.
Construction and infrastructure companies – for personnel working around shafts, tunnels, underground infrastructure and other potentially hazardous areas.
H₂S, CO or O₂ monitoring
Single Gas is available in three dedicated versions:
- Single Gas H₂S – hydrogen sulphide: 0–100 ppm
- Single Gas CO – carbon monoxide: 0–300 ppm
- Single Gas O₂ – oxygen: 0–30%
Each unit continuously monitors one specific gas or oxygen parameter, making Single Gas a practical solution when the workplace hazard is clearly defined and a multi-gas analyser is not required.
Audible, visual and vibration warning
When the programmed threshold is reached, the worker is immediately warned by three independent signals:
- Audible warning – minimum 95 dB
- Bright LED visual warning
- Vibration warning
LED indicators are positioned on the top, front and side of the unit, making the warning clearly visible in demanding working conditions.
Lightweight and designed to be worn throughout the working day
Single Gas weighs only 76 g and measures just 81 × 50 × 28 mm, allowing it to be comfortably worn on work clothing throughout the working day.
With IP66/67 protection, the analyser is designed for demanding professional environments where dust, moisture and water exposure may occur.
Automatic self-test and operational readiness
Single Gas is designed to minimise daily maintenance and simplify workplace safety procedures.
A full functional self-test is performed when the unit is activated and automatically every 20 hours. Battery status is continuously monitored.
Programmable bump test reminders and visual indications help ensure that required functional checks are carried out on schedule.
Up to 2 years of operational life
Once activated, Single Gas provides an operational life of up to 2 years under the manufacturer's specified operating conditions.
The unit can be stored for up to 12 months before activation and is supplied with an 18-month manufacturer's warranty.
Event logging and data transfer
Single Gas stores the last 25 events using a First-In-First-Out (FIFO) system.
With the optional Esders IR communication module, event and data logs can be downloaded, while warning thresholds and user settings can also be configured.
Certified for hazardous environments
Single Gas is certified for use in potentially explosive atmospheres:
ATEX: II 1G Ex ia IIC T4 Ga
IECEx: Ex ia IIC T4
